d'anthem [Happy Birthday Nigeria]

Image
By: Niapyil. Nigeria my Father land blessed with enormous human and natural resources Favoured by the gods yet blinded by malcontentedness. From the north to the south,  to the east to the west lies vast agricultural produce, mineral resources and  abundant human talents, competing for attention and none to harness the great potentials inured therein. We succeed when we strive individually but when we venture out together  to accomplish goals, greed sets in to spoil the meal.   A new dawn beckons on us, as novel and determined individuals strive to better their communities and by extension Nigeria. we hereby pledge with zeal, prowess and intelligence, undeterred by overwhelming bottlenecks and obstacle which we might come across and without relenting, but journey on in fraternal harmony, on to the promise land that awaits us. Happy fifty six Najeriya!

ECONOMIC QUAGMIRE IN JOS

Image
The Jos metropolitan economic structure, especially the Market structure has bedeviled the revenue of the State. There is dire need for the Government to identify new and robust sources of generating revenue internally. The streets of Ahmadu Bello way and the Terminus areas have become the beehives of economic activities to the detriment of motorist and pedestrians. A passerby will have to bump shoulders with sellers of various kinds of items and say sorry for either being stepped on or for stepping on someone’s toes. Areas demarcated for cars to be parked have become selling points for traders.  A shop owner around the Abuja market, craving anonymity, told ‘The Natifz Times’ reporters that since the advent of those displaying their goods on the pedestrian and the front of his shop, his sales has dropped drastically and still at the end of the day, the Government will come to ask for tax, he further asked “where am I suppose to get the money to pay them considering these people

NIGERIAN POLITICS: CONTEMPORARY PRACTICES

Image
Credit: eie.ng Nigeria is a country of over 200 million people with a political system greatly influenced by our colonial administrators.  The polity exercises separation of power amongst three arms of Government, the Executive, Legislative, and the Judiciary. The Executive powers exercised by the President and the Legislative powers are exercised by a bicameral legislature consisting of the upper and lower Houses known as the Senate and Representative respectively, and Judicial powers are exercised by the law courts consisting of customary courts, high courts, courts of appeal and supreme court etc. with the highest court as the supreme court. With these structures of our country, I must say that they did not just arrive from nowhere. As a nation we have a history from pre-colonial era. There are structures which are relatively similar to that of the pre-colonial structures.  The politics of Nigeria is practiced by the actors within the framework of the arms and other levels of
