Selassie From Finland
Reggae which is a mixture of Ska, Calypso, Rhythm and Blues evolve over the years and widely dominated by Rastafarian ideals. A Reggae artist Abdul Sillah a.k.a Abdul Salessie who spoke from Finland, told our correspondence Tha Great Dupont said that his father is from Gambia but he was given birth to in Sierra Leone.. He presently lives in Finland where he ply his music. in his own words he said:
He has been an instrumentalist before he ventured into singing. He went further to tell Tha Great Dupont that:
In 1998 I was a Rode Baking Band instrumentalist. In 1999 I became a backup singer, two years later I became the lead vocalist of the Real Beat Band musicians which comprises of musicians from Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Ghana and Senegal. That was my first band and two years later, I left the band and I went and became a performing artist with a band called Afro United Band in Gambia. While there I was mimicking other musicians. my performances were in hotels and restaurants. at that time I was the best reggae singer in Gambia, tourist from all over the world to Gambia got to know about me.
How he moved from that point to form his own band, he has this to say:
Some years later, about two or three down the line, my friends from Holland bought brand new sets of instruments for my band and that was the beginning of Selassie Reggae Band in Gambia. some few years later I got married to my adorable wife a Finnish woman, from there we moved to Finland.
About his album, if any? he said:
