PLATEAU STATE PDP SENSITIZATION MEETING ON THE FORTH COMING ELECTIONS HELD ON THE 18/04/2017


The meeting started immediately on the arrival of the State Party Chairman and other party officials, with a word of prayer and followed by the National Anthem. The party PRO in the person of Emmanuel Macham stood up to brief the audience about the consent of the PDP national body being aware of today’s meeting and he went further to intimate the congregation of how important today’s meeting is considering that all hands needs to be on deck in anticipation of the forth coming local government elections in Plateau State. The PRO then introduced the State Party Chairman, Hon. Gyang Badung, who was present, the North Central Chairman, Barrister Timothy Parlong, who was present, the State Deputy Chairman, John Wuyep,  who was present, the State Secretary Mrs. Cecilia Dongtoe who was present, other members of the Exco, as well as other, Party Stalwarts were present. Before then the PRO went ahead and called on the 17 Local Government Exco and representatives to stand up for recognition. Also present and seated were the Administrative staff led by the  Director of Administration, Mr. Anthony Kokong.
The State Party Chairman, Hon. Gyang Badung addressed the congregation, where he emphasized that the present PDP exco was sworn in 24th November 2016 and this position is recognized by the INEC, PLASIEC, SSS, Nigerian Police Force and other constituted authorities. That the verdict of the Court of Appeal which is in favour of Sen.  Ali Modu Sheriff as the authentic PDP National Chairman has also given credence to the present State Exco on the Plateau. The State Party Chairman said that the State Exco is solidly behind the National chairmanship of Sen. Sheriff because of his dogged stand on the rule of law, and that all contestants for any elected positions on the platform of the PDP must come from the grassroots that the days of impunity in the party is over. That harmony, tolerance, unity are important attributes for all party supporters as well as party members especially those who aspire to contest elections. The Party Chairman also made mentioned of the importance of the National Convention which is scheduled to hold in few months time.

The Chairman also delved on the need for Party members to refrain from using abusive, inciting, and provocative statements that could create tension or cause damage to the party.
The North Central Zone Chairman , Barrister Timothy Parlong appreciated all participants and emphasized on party unity, understanding and working in accordance with the rule of law and for the success of the Party in the State. He stressed his admiration for the National Party leader, Sen. Sheriff for his reconciliatory attributes. That when the National Chairman won at the Court of Appeal, immediately he came out of the court room he said that there was no winner and there is no loser that the PDP stands to benefit from the ruling of the Court of Appeal. He went on to talk about the need for the party to be united, for that is crucial and vital in order for the party to succeed. He further stressed the importance of the PDP on the Plateau and how all members need to work harmoniously in order to achieve success in the forth coming elections.


Other party stalwarts also brought their goodwill messages. The leader of the councilors’ forum made a presentation to the meeting that they were forced out by the present government and the case has dragged for two years in court and since then they have been sidelined. He went on to advise the present Exco to learn from previous mistakes and that speaking for himself and his colleagues they stand for the truth and they are loyal to the present Exco.  A member of the party present, passed a resolution supporting the present National and State PDP Exco, that all PDP members on the Plateau are supporting  the Sen. Modu Sheriff and Badung led PDP 100% and he was seconded by another member. which is to the point that they will do everything legally possible to ensure that these Excos succeed. The state Party Chairman rounded up by appreciating all present and wish them journey mercies to their several destinations and to carry the message to their various communities that PDP is back to stay.  The meeting concluded with  a word of prayer  and the National Anthem.
