The Shredded Umbrella; The Handle Still Holds (The PDP Theatre)

In a brief interview with The PDP State Party Chairman, Hon. Gyang Badung on 18th April, 2017, he expressed his desire to put Plateau State first above personal interest. He also, emphasized on the Party Unity which is very crucial as The Plateau State LGA Elections are around the corner. He continued by talking about following the rule of law and following the footsteps of the founding fathers particularly Late. Solomon D Lar  amongst others for their sacrifices.

He went on to talk about himself standing for truth and yearning to execute the wishes of the masses and impacting positively on humanity. He, further, said he will not condone division, godfatherism and intolerance tendencies amongst members of the party or party supporters. He preached about bringing harmony and treating everybody equally irrespective of religion, ethnic or sectional affiliation. He concluded by advising all Plateau People to protect democracy by voting for credible leaders and work hard towards restoring Plateau lost Glory.

Reports reached us the next day, 19th April, 2017 that Hon. Gyang Badung and Hon. Emmanuel Macham were summoned by Hon. Damishe Sango and Co. Before a Magistrate Court sitting at JMDB. Hearing was adjourned to a later date this month.

Our Correspondence who received notice of a scheduled PDP meeting for the 5th of May, 2017, as we  were informed it was for reconciliation of the party's several units. A notice which we were also told was given to the security apparatus in the State.

On that faithful day the party members who turned up in response to the notice of the meeting met up with beefed up security at the Plateau State PDP Party Secretariat. When Hon. Damishe Sango showed up, a frontal confrontation was averted and to avoid any carnage, Hon. Gyang Badung and his loyalist moved it's activities to a safe distance, where he addressed the State PDP structure and also answered field questions from gentlemen of the press.

Hon. Badung had this to tell the press: he spoke about the other group hiring thugs with weapons to disrupt the party's activities for that day. He said that his Exco, being law abiding citizens they won't want to do anything to breach the law and peace on the Plateau state. He said that the peace on the Plateau is not negotiable. That they were at the party office in line with the letters they gave the security apparatus.

That since they have intimated the security men, they invited their members from the 17 Local Government Areas of the State for reconciliation of the PDP in the State. He further said that unfortunately the Sango faction which is not loyal to PDP National Chairman, Distinguished Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, who was declared as the National Chairman of the PDP by a competent court of the land, came spurring to the State Party Secretariat, which warranted the change of venue.

He went on to state that whatsoever he and his Exco are doing are inline with the PDP National Secretariat, that his Exco's decision is not unilaterally carried out, rather with the blessings of the PDP National Body.

A report from Natifz Times Political desk.
